Western Han Burial Pot
The bottle is made from the typical grey to black pottery, as much seen in the Han dynasty ( 206 B.C.-220 A.D.) It is 5 inches in height, and approximately 5 inches across at its widest point. A double line of white slip travels around the center. The lower portion is decorated with jagged patterns, while the top has swirled leaf decoration, visible only in some spots. There are touches of red and more white in the decoration. This bottle was never intended for use, but a burial piece. The colors of the decoration are the Han dynasty colors; dark brown, orange, and purple black. The surface shows wear according to a long burial.
