Japanese Kogo Or Incense Box for the Tea Ceremony

 

A nice triangle-shaped Japanese Kogo. The color is that used often on Japanese and Korean Celadon glazes. It speaks simplicity, the lid with 3 flowers. It measures 3 inches by 1 1/2 inches and is approximately 1 inch high.

Kogo (??). A small lidded container for the incense that is added to the charcoal fire during the charcoal-laying procedure of the tea ceremony. For the kneaded incense (neriko) that is used in a sunken hearth (ro), the container is generally made of ceramic.
